Eliza Dushku

The more I read about Eliza Dushku, the more I like her.

It's a shame that Dollhouse may be canceled. This is one of the best shows on TV right now. I encourage you all to support this project and support it's cast.

Please, before it is too late, watch this show and support intelligent and creative content.

I am intrigued. Never heard of this show. I'm sad to see talent kicked off TV, a la Arrested Development. I do not have cable because I want to watch EVERYTHING and then I get overwhelmed and my Tivo fills up, blah blah blah. But this, I could deal with the DVDs.

The premise of Dollhouse is that a person's mind can be "read" or downloaded, erased, and other people's "download" can be inserted into their mind. That is called an "imprint".

A secret company, the "Dollhouse", has a number of people who are on contract for 5 years to be hosts, or "dolls". They are given imprints that allow them to do specific jobs, like forensic science, hostage negotiator, or just a happy housewife... whatever the client chooses. It costs a small fortune to hire a doll, so only the rich and powerful can use the service. This consequently gives the Dollhouse a lot of power.

But the "real" mind or each doll is stored and not transferred back to them until the contract is over. Their time between assignments is filled with a docile imprint, innocent and trusting, like a child. But that means they have no say in what assignment they are given, and it makes their contract a form of slavery.

The show commonly covers the ethics of such actions, and recently presented the possibility of eternal life, by repeatedly "downloading" your consciousness into new bodies as the previous one wears out.

Is that new body and mind really "you"? If so, does that change the definition of a soul? If that new shell is not really "you", why not?

But about 3 days ago it was canceled, just after the season 1 finale. I don't know that I've ever watched a TV show that brought up questions like that.
